Tables & Figures for the Pre-Processor Part 1

Here are some tables  of mostly US Navy Weapon and Sensor systems. The intent is to continue to expand these tables with other US and Foreign systems, so that the user can pull off estimates of weights, volumes, manpower requirements and electrical load requirements for the combat system of the vessel being investigated.  For some items there are multiple entries to relfect the data found in different sources.

The data shown in Green is estimated data based on trendlines from data for similar systems, as shown in the figure below.  Based on the data from this figure, if you have a rough idea of the size for a design you can estimate the weight of the SWBS 410-440 group as being roughly 1.2% of the ship'a full load weight.

In the table above the cells with Green text represent estimates based on estimates from the trendlines in the plot below.  In this plot of Missile/Rocket Launcher Volume versus Weight, three sets of data are shown where:

  • the Blue Squares and Curve represents data for large Vertical Launch Systems (VLSs)
  • the Red Diamonds and Curve represents data for large rotating arm launchers (like the USNs Mark 13, 22, and 26)
  • the Green Triangles represent data for small launchers like the French Crotale and Italian Albatros systems

Small Arms & Pyrotechnics - SWBS 760

In general it appears that a valueof about 2.0 t is a suitable estimate for the weight of Small Arms & Pyrotechnics for Post WWII Surface Combatants.

Cargo Munitions - SWBS 770

I currently do not have any data on Cargo Munitions Systems, and I do not really suspect that there would likely be these type systems on the type vessels of interest here, but if I get any such info it will go here.

Aircraft Related Weapon Systems - SWBS 780

I currently do not have any data on Cargo Munitions Systems, but if I get any it will go here.

Weapon System Repair Parts & Fluid Weights - SWBS 790

From data on similar ships it appears that the weight of Operating Fluids for Armament Systems equal to about 5.4% of the rest of the SWBS 700 System Weights.
